Economic Localization

The Transition Town movement focuses on resiliency, building towards a more sustainable future for the entire community. This means the ability not to collapse at the first sign of oil shortages, and the ability to adapt to disturbance.

The economic localization initiative is designed to rebuild the infrastructure required for both resiliency and sustainability. The new economic infrastructure is not intended to disconnect the community from the global economy, but rather to localize essential products and services and create sustainable jobs. Eeconomic localization will result in much more of the human and monetary capital generated here working for the benefit of the community.

Essential products and services include food, water, energy, waste removal, sanitation, building supplies, clothing and health services.
